Long time no post!

So, life has settled into normalcy back in the US, and I've spent the last several months working very hard to achieve it! Of course this is in some ways a little hard for me - as living in the US means its much harder to bounce all over different continents to visit different countries! No worries though, I've been doing my best to not sit still for 15 minutes and see places in my new home base - Rockville, MD.

Most recently, I went on the yearly vacation with my family - which was oooooh so nice! Cape Cod gets better every year! I wasn't as good about taking pictures this time around, but apparently my Mom got a few to prove I was there. ;-) (Kayaking, nonetheless!)

Kayaking on the Bass River.

Before that, the beau and I did a quick trip to Harper's Ferry, which I absolutely recommend to anyone. History, great restaurants, yet quaint and relaxing, it's great place to make visit for a day or two and is totally inexpensive.

Chris and I atop Jefferson Rock, a point very high up Harper's Ferry where Thomas Jefferson used to meditate.

And, in between all of this, a trip to Baltimore was taken. I think it's really important to get out there as often as possible to explore new places and try new things!

In front of Charm City Cakes, the location of the Food Network Show "Ace of Cakes". Check them out - they make ridiculous confections!

I've got so much more I want to share, but not posting for so long will give a person a lot to go through! I hope to post more often with more exciting pictures and some interesting tidbits about the places I visit to intrigue the mind!

Still trying to define "real" life...

Wednesday, February 25, 2009
So, when last I wrote (which was much too long ago), I left in search of my "real" life back in the United States. Well, I can tell you that I still haven't found it, and my search has left me questioning what the "real world" really is.

After the initial months of reverse cultural shock and the depression of having to find a job during one of the worst economic crisis in memory, I relocated to Washington, DC.

DC is my playground. Here I feel like anything is possible and that opportunities are abound.

I've been looking for work in all sectors of politics, but until I find "The" job, I've been keeping myself busy bartending at a hot little spot north of DC called Blackfinn.

Working at Blackfinn isn't rocket science, but for now I'm content to wait out this awful search until the right opportunity comes along. The staff here is great, and although things here get crazy in all aspects of the word, it's what I'm calling home for now.

Re-Americanizing...

...and readjusting to "real life".

Hi all. I realize it's been an incredibly long time since my last blog. Life has been quite the ultimate whirlwind since May.

I finished my internship.

Jessica Matthews, President of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, myself, and Rose Gottemoeller, the Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center.

Finish and defended my master's thesis. Graduated master's school.

My fairy godmother and I at the MGIMO graduation.

Experienced Moscow at its finest.

Moved back home to the United States and took one of the best family vacations ever...

Sunset at one of Cape Cod's many beaches.

...and am now in the process of re-Americanizing and readjusting to the next step in my life...I guess that would be "real" life. (I.e. - getting a job, a place of my own and paying my bills...).

I've got lots of pictures to update my photo album with, and now that I've settled in a bit, will be doing that soon. I'll also be looking for a job (if anybody has any connections in DC, give me a shout!) and learning what a healthy diet means again. More updates and stories from my last two months in Moscow will be on their way!
